Mission on Clean and Renewable energy (Sept. 03)
Fossil fuels (oil, coal, gas) are source of air pollution (locally) and Climate change (globally). Nuclear energy is virtually clean since it is not a source of greenhouse gases emissions, but generates hazardous waste on a very long term. In this context, alternative sources of energy like
wind, solar, biomass, or small hydroelectric systems represent a large potential of clean sources of energy. Can they really match the world demand for energy? Can they represent a real alternative to fossil fuels? This is some of the questions that will be raised in a YRE mission that will take place from 27th of Sept. to 04 Oct. 2003, in France.
