Media Distorting The Outer World?

Nowadays, media occupies a significant portion of our lives. Everyday we either read the newspaper or watch television or go on the internet. Such a strong power on our daily lives should be inspected and even scrutinized, because it may positively or negatively influence us. Simply media is controlling the information we receive and they have an immense power on our opinions.

The president of the Republic, N.Sarkozy controls the media in France, by his contacts he can censor a lot of things. For example, the video when he was drunk was only shown by Belgium and other countries just after the facts. N.Sarkozy’s contacts censured the video, and it was not broadcasted in the major news. The power to control what people hear about is a unique one and is equally dangerous. Another example will be the differences between the information given by different sources. The news that are presented at a news paper based in Istanbul and a newspaper based in Paris vary greatly. The ability to bend the reality by using media is unstable and is better when not used.

Between Turkey and France the attitude towards the media is similar. The opinions of students were usually on the same route. A student said that it was deceiving because it was influencing us on our lives. Another said that it is also useful because it helps us to understand the world. A more conscious student concluded that we should watch the news but not believe in them right away. We should always check on bias and deformations they may have.
