Adolescence is a period when a lot of changes show up. The passage between the childhood to adult is sometimes complex and daunting. Teenagers try to find their own limits and sometimes take risks which can be too great, thats why there is a lot of diseases.
Why so many deaths among young people?
In France, we see different causes:
Suicide: someone gets suicidal because he feels down, has family problems, feels excluded from the society, or with a victim of sexual abuse.
Anorexia: when the teenager doesnt accept his body, they can also speak about an evil (whose origin come from the family, or caused by traumas).
The drugs: Taking drugs excessively can do the body harm. An important catch of drugs(coke, heroine ) and overdose can kill someone.
Alcohol: one of the main causes of death amongteenagers. Today, we see heavy drinking has become extremely common among them.
Road accident: Alcohol is the most important cause of car accidents. Many young people died on the road after having made parties with very high alcohol level in the blood. some figures: Death between 15 and 24 year old in France (2004) Road accident: 36% Suicide: 16% Tumours: 10%
In Turkey, suicide and accidents are the main causes. The reasons are however different. As a matter of fact, teenagers have peer pressure at school, from their families and they are afraid of failing.
Surprising fact : In Istanbul, there is a law which forbids access to the Bosphorus Bridge to passers-by. Because of the height, the State fears that people will commit suicide by jumping from the Bridge.
Road accidents are fairly common in Turkey. Turkish children play a dangerous game : hang on to a lorry, which causes lots of deaths.
