CHAT Externat NOTRE DAME-LYCEE HEV
- 18 décembre 2007

HEV: Bonjour a tous!
END: Une autre question ?
END: Are you going to talk to us in English, in French or in Turkish,
when we are in Istanbul
HEV: Can's question on the romantic French ! Is it true that the French
are all romantic, as I imagine, and that France is a very romantic
country?
END: 1 mètre 50 de neige à Chamrousse
HEV: All three of them! But in simple Turkish!
END: I think this is a stereotype
HEV: Another question from Katia: What did you think when you first
learned that we were doing a project together?
HEV: How deep will the snow probably be at Chamrousse in April? (Yusuf's
question)
HEV: Katia's question : If you were to live here in Istanbul, what
do you think you would need to learn first and what would you like
to learn?
END: Me, (Cédric) I enjoyed very much the idea. Léa
Thought it was a really good opportunity to know other people and
country. Joynitah Thought the same thing.
HEV: Yasemin's next question: We have been studying aspects of the
French Revolution of 1789 in our French and History classes (I have
an exam on this in an hour!!!) I think it was a good thing overall
for France. Do you agree?
CEDRIC: You'll be able to ski in april.
HEV: A question from Roys : What did you think when you first learned
of something new for you, that you didn't know before about Turkey?
HEV: Another question from Roys: Do you trust media reporting on Turkey
in France, or on France itself? How trustworthy do you think Turkish
media are in reporting about France?
CEDRIC: The language ... and how to make a kebab
HEV: *joanna typing/
END: Yes, the revolution was a very good thing because it transformed
a monarchy into a democracy
HEV: Jean can"t even boil an egg
HEV: what do you eat for dinner
CEDRIC: Lol
END: We have no idea for the Turkish media. We really don't know what
they tell about France.
END: Well, it depends of the family. Sometimes soup, sometimes pasta,
pizza etc...
HEV: all we see Sarkozy and his girlfriend
HEV: hehe
HEV: Well you will fit in with us
END: She is a very good singer.
HEV: hehe we didnt know that
HEV: Deniz father owns a few dominos
END: We are going to study one of her songs in the English class
END: dominos ?
HEV: oh does she sing in english
HEV: its an american pizza diner
END: Ok
END: About the media : Most of the time stereotypes o n a country
are given by TV.When we don't know, we have prejudices because of
what is shown in the media (terrorism, etc
) We generalise from
a wrong idea we get about a person.Fear of the unknown is the common
source of misunderstandings
HEV: do you believe that turkey is a country that the newspapers portray
END: Not at all
END: We don't trust the media.
HEV: neither do we
END: We know everything they say is false
HEV: one more question before I hand it over to yusuf
END: I (Cédric) am going to a concert in april (the tenth)
but the music is metal and I don't know if someone would be interested
HEV: hi I am yusuf
CEDRIC: I don't know if there are tickets left
END: hi yusuf
CEDRIC: The band is Nightwish if someone knows.
HEV: can sackan and mikael prefer such music. They play lead guitar
and want to make a group with you. They need a drummer, bassist and
keyboards player. We have a singer. They are thinking of the name
CEDRIC: Great
HEV: by the way Joanna and yusuf love nightwish
HEV: by the way
END: ok
