I first tried this succulent recipe as a child whilst visiting relatives in the Czech-republic. This simple yet mouth-watering recipe is perfect for Christmas !
Ingredients for 1 portion:
- 560 g of flour
- 160g of sugar
- 400g of butter or margarine
- 200g of crushed hazelnuts
Recipe:
Rub all of the ingredients into a short-crust dough and let it cool for an hour. Roll out the dough into a long cylinder with thickness of about 1 cm. Then cut into thumb-sized length and bend into a crescent shape. Place the rolls onto an ungreased cooking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven at 1750C for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
You are finished! You may also sprinkle a little vanilla-flavoured sugar on top, making the vanillakipferl resemble snowy hills.
bon appetit, as the French say
