Nervous, Tired or Both?

The night before my first day of secondary school I was feeling nervous. I didn’t even feel like playing football, which was a first for me, but at least I could annoy my brother saying that I still hadn’t started school but he had. I got ready for bed after a tense moment, arranging my bag correctly.

After tossing and turning for half an hour I got to sleep and forgot to turn off my alarm, so at 6 o’clock in the morning I woke up, which if you were me you would have understood why I was so annoyed. After getting out of bed I decided to go downstairs and eat alone. It was like eating in the North Pole. I was so cold because the heating was turned off and when my dad came down he got a piece of my mind, that’s for sure.

By the time I finished breakfast it was 6:30am. Too early for school, so I killed a few hours reading and playing on my PSP until my brother came downstairs and very kindly took my PSP and ran away with it as a joke. Of course, this had the opposite effect - I was mad now as well as nervous!!!

Then the time came to get in the car and drive to Europole. On the way we picked up my friend called Tom who lives three minutes away from me. We arrived twenty minutes early after forty-five minutes in the car to get there. Then the time came and the bell rang and we were rushed through the gates carrying two heavy bags (which was extremely tiring) to see which class we were in. I really did feel like a needle in a haystack trying to find my way around this enormous school...every room and corridor looked the same and there were so many people....I knew hardly anyone. It was like being in a busy airport trying to find where to catch my plane!

I finally found out my class was 6e3 and my tutor, Mme.Testart, was waiting eagerly to meet us. She noticed that Tom and I had brought all our folders with us from home, even though we didn’t need to. So now you understand why it is such a tense moment when arranging my bag every day.

After a day of being given tons of papers and having to remember to get them all signed I came back home. Did I really enjoy my day? What did I do? Who did I meet? What are my teachers like? All these questions my mum and dad were firing at me like bullets in a gun.... I know they were just interested and dying to hear how my day went BUT...I was officially THE MOST TIRED PERSON IN THE WORLD and all I wanted to do was GO TO SLEEP!!! Did I really survive the day? Was I nervous or tired....definitely BOTH!
