Set in the 19th century Jane Eyre is a ten year old orphan brought up by her cruel aunt. She is freed from her slave like life and sent to a boarding school for poor girls. There she will become a teacher and fight to make a life of her own, a life on her own. She becomes a governess at Thornfield Hall where she meets Edward Rochester. A man who she can finally trust, love and befriend.
As the story unravels the heroine finds herself in situations she never could have imagined. Homeless and penniless, Jane proves that a woman can find herself and be someone in a world dominated by men.
Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre is a story of love, hope and never knowing what will happen next. Though classics may be hard to understand, I very much enjoyed this book. It was the first classic I ever read and it has made me want to read some more!
